People throughout history have developed unique character and culture through living with their environment. Nature as mentor and provider constantly challenging them while enabling their very existence. Today nature is regarded as the source of raw materials that drive industry to determine our modern lifestyles. To the artist it is much more, a well of inspiration, omnipresent and eternal. Throughout all time, through infinite space there is for us only this moment, this place where life and art are possible. The biosphere that surrounds the planet is no more than a veneer, a delicate and temporal stage where life has exploded in magnificent and myriad forms.
Photography has presented me with an opportunity to explore the many faces of nature to increase my understanding and appreciation for it. The endless dynamic interplay of natural light determined by transient weather systems provide rare moments that transcend the ordinary to bring out the true inherent beauty in all things. The cameras viewfinder is a canvas where elements of color, shape texture, space and form are revealed in fleeting moments of illumination. Using these elements to make photographs is has natural as being in the outdoors. Distilled through a cameras lens they are sublime and permanent statements of lifes great adventure.
